The National Union of Electricity Employees, NUEE, has suspended its nationwide strike, following a meeting with the Minister of Labour and Employment and former governor of Anambra State, Dr Chris Ngige on Wednesday.
A statement from the Ministry of Labour and Employment, stated that Ngige had intervened in the labour dispute, leading to the suspension of the strike by the NUEE.
It was noted that Ngige held an emergency meeting with the union and other stakeholders.
“Dr Ngige set up a tripartite committee to look into the grievances of electricity workers towards addressing them,” the statement added.
Meanwhile, the NUEE General Secretary, Joe Ajaero, has “assured the minister that all necessary steps would be taken to restore the supply of electricity to the country immediately.”
