The Southern Kaduna Peoples Union, SOKAPU, has said that he 17 people killed in Gonan-Rogo by suspected Fulani herdsmen had been given mass burial.
SOKAPU National President Jonathan Asake who spoke said the community reportedly came under attack in the early hours of Tuesday by the herders who killed 17 people while six others received gunshot and machete wounds.
Kaduna State Police Command however said that 15 and not 17 people were killed in that attack while five others sustained injuries.
The state police Public Relations Officer, Mohammed Jalige spoke in a statement in Kaduna.
"The attackers started shooting sporadically attacking the villagers and in the process shot and killed 15 persons, and injured five others."
But, Asake, stressed Wednesday that 17 persons were killed and 17 had since been given mass burial.
Asake said, "those dead were given mass burial yesterday (Tuesday). A team of SOKAPU officials witnessed the mass burial there."
