Opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Kaduna State is now engulfed in crisis.
The crises has led to the suspension of seven chieftains of the party, including a former Senator, reprrsenting Kaduna North Senatorial District and a governorship aspirant in the party in 2019, Suleiman Hunkuyi.
Others include, Hon. Hashim Garba from Kubau Local Government, Dr Mato Dogara- Lere Local Government; Ibrahim Lazuru- Lere Local Government; Dr John Danfulani- Kachia Local Government; Lawal Imam Adamu- Soba Local Government and Ubale Salmanduna- Zaria Local Government.
State Publicity Secretary of the party, Abraham Catoh said that Hunkuyi and his colleagues were reportedly suspended over alleged anti-party activities.
In a statement weekend,
Catoh in a statement said the suspension order by the State Working Committee, SWC, of the party followed due process as it was in line with the party's constitution as provided in Section 57(3) 2017, as amended.
According to him, the suspended party chieftains were expected to appear before the party's Disciplinary Committee on a date and time to be announced by the committee.
"The SWC of the PDP, Kaduna State, met today, Saturday,16 May, 2020, after preliminary hearing on party discipline and resolved to suspend the following, for anti-party activities in line with the provision of the party constitution as provided in Section 57(3) 2017, as amended.
The statement read, "That the said members stand suspended from the party from today, the 16th day of may, 2020 and will be expected to appear before the Disciplinary committee on a date and time to be announced by the committee.
"The SWC further resolved that Col. Dauda Albehu Gora, is not a registered member of the PDP and therefore, he is an impersonator.
"The party has submitted his name to all security agencies to take note of his activities. We shall take necessary action against him should he continue with his activities against the PDP."
Howevet, in his reaction, a former Deputy Director General, PDP Campaign Committee, in the state during the 2019 general election, Danjuma Bello Sarki, asked party members to put their house in order for the 2023 elections to be a success.
Sarki also called for absolute loyalty from party members to sack the All Progressives Congress, APC controlled government in 2023.
