NSUKKA-----A 15-year-old student of Community Secondary School, Ede Oballa, Nsukka Local Government Area of Enugu State, has been struck dead by thunderstorm .
The boy, who was identified as Chinonso Ezema, was struck dead Wednesday, at Ama Egbu in Ede Oballa, while fixing a metal which channeled rain water to tank while it was raining in the evening of the fateful day.
Ezema is the third child to be killed in Nsukka Local Government by thunder within three weeks.
Two other children, Nnadozie Asogwa and Wilson Nnasom, were killed during the first incident which happened at the former Army Barracks area, Nsukka three weeks ago.
The two children were struck to death by thunderstorm while plucking some mango fruits while it was raining.
Sources said that the boy who was in Junior Secondary School, JSS 3 died on the spot after being hit by thunder.
The deceased's elder brother, Nwachukwu Ezema, told reporters at the scene of the incident at Ama Egbu area of the community that the family was still in shock as to what happened to their young, promising child.
Nwachukwu further said "It was in the evening after a heavy downpour when my phone rang and I was summoned to come home.
"On getting home, I noticed a crowd of people in a state of confusion, running helter skelter in our compound, apparently to salvage the situation That was when I discovered the lifeless body of my younger brother lying on the floor.
"I was told that he was trying to fix a metal which collects water into our tank when he was struck by thunder.
"We are in deep morning but I Know that God has a purpose for our existence. I believe he has fulfilled his purpose on earth; that was why God allowed this tragic incident to befall him.
"It is bitter reality that will live with for me and the entire household."
