Some gunmen Wednesday morning invaded Tudu village in Agwal al area of Kajuru Local Government Area of southern Kaduna in Kaduna State, killing at least nine persons and injuring several others..
The latest killing is coming against the backdrop of an earlier attacks on the same Kajuru communities killing over 30 persons.
The Southern Kaduna Peoples Union,, SOKAPU, alleged that at least 30 decomposing bodies of residents were abandoned in the bush following attack by suspected Fulani herdsmen on15 communities in the area.
Reliable sources told Southeast Post that several other persons were injured in the renewed attack which took place at about 5am Wednesday.
It was learned that the gunmen invaded the village and started shooting sporadically as the residents scampered for dear lives.
The sources said, "Yes, there was an attack on Tudu village in Agwala Dutse at about 5:00am today(Wednesday) and several people were killed and several others too sustained injuries."
Kaduna Police command could not confirm the latest attack in Kajuru Local Government but the Chairman of the local government, Mr. Cafra Caino said nine people lost their lives in the attack.
Caino, however, said that the timely intervention of security operatives prevented the casualties figure from rising higher., even as detailed inventory of casualties were being taken.
He also said that security operatives had been mobilized to the community.
His words, "we have once again been set back in our confidence building effort and peace engagements after Tudu village in Agwala Dutse general area was attacked this morning.
"It is confirmed that nine lives were lost in the attack. A detailed inventory of casualties is being taken.
"My heart goes out to all the families affected; may God grant the souls of the victims eternal rest.
"The position of Kajuru LGA remains that all communities must recourse to the law as against engaging in killings and reprisals.
"I also passionately implore all and sundry to unite to win this war against criminality in our Local Government Council.
"The council will not relent in its commitment to end the violence but success can only be achieved with the support of every peace loving citizen."
