Reports said Saturday that bandits launched fresh attacks on a Kastina Community, killing no fewer than 50 residents, just as the Boko Haram insurgents are currently attacking both Gubio and Goni Local Government Areas of Borno State.
This killing in Katsina is coming against the backdrop of earlier attacks which claimed the life of the traditional ruler of Yantumaki in DanMusa local government of the state, Alhaji Maidabino barely three weeks ago.
It was said that no fewer than 50 bandits on Saturday morning reportedly attacked Mazoji Village under Matazu Local Government Area of Katsina State also, killing the traditional ruler of the community.
A source told SaharaReporters that the bandits carried out the attack on Mazoji Village around 2am and operated for several hours before killing the traditional leader.
The bandits also reportedly set ablaze five motorcycles during the attack, while they rustled unspecified number of cows.
The source lamented that security operatives were yet to arrive the village even as at 7:30am.
Bandit's attacks and kidnappings have been on the rise in Katsina State in recent times, leaving many deaths and displacement behind.
Also in Goni village in Borno State, residents said they had notified security agencies of the situation, even as the insurgents were still operating freely in the community.
It is currently not known the extent of damage the hoodlums had caused in the village, even as the terrorists killed over 80 persons in some communities in Gubio Local Government Area of the state. ￼
Furthermore, the insurgents are also reportedly currently, attacking Monguno town in Borno State, SaharaReporters can confirm.
A security source told SaharaReporters that the insurgents came into the village around 1:15pm, shooting sporadically.
Monguno is around 100 kilometres, about 62 miles, North-East of Maiduguri, Borno State.
It has been repeatedly attacked by insurgents,.who have made several attempts to overrun the large military base located just outside the town.
