Lagos State Senator, Bayo Osinowo, 64, is dead. Osinowo a.k.a pepperito, who represented the Lagos East Senatorial District, died in Lagos Monday, June 15, 2020, following alleged complications from COVID-19.
He was born in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State on November 28, 1955. Osinowo had his primary education at St. Augustine Primary School in Ijebu-Ode and his Secondary Education in Issoyin Grammar School, Isoyin.
After his graduation in Isonyin, Osinowo worked with the Federal Ministry of Works till 1979.
He then set up his own businesses where he was managing director.
Osinowo also spent some years in Italy studying building technology, according to the Wikipedia.
Osinowo was part of the June 12 struggle and was arrested by the DSS, spending months in detention, until Sani Abacha’s death in 1998.
The former Senator also joined the Alliance for Democracy in 1999 and was elected into the Lagos House of Assembly in 2003.
He served four tenures in the Lagos State House of Assembly before he was elected into the Senate in 2019, replacing Senator Ashafa, and later appointed Chairman, Senate Committee on Industries. He did all he could to battle the virus, but could not survive.
Osinowo reportedly received private treatment after he tested positive for COVID-19, but died days later while under intensive care.
