Former governor of Oyo state, Abiola Ajimobi, 70, is dead. He reportedly died of COVID-19 complications at First Cardiology Specialist Hospital, Lagos.
A member of House of Representatives, Akin Alabi, who also is a political associate of the former governor tweeted: about the death, saying “Forever in my heart.”
Ajimobi was the first governor of Oyo state to win a second term in office and served between 2011 and 2019.
His death was strongly rumoured last week, but family members disputed such reports saying he was only critically ill and in an intensive care unit of the hospital where he later died.
